Prevent damage, stains and wear and tear on your carpets. Things to keep in mind in general when taking care of your Jakobsdals carpets:
Hand in your carpets to a reputable carpet cleaner for a well-executed professional flat wash. (Avoid dry cleaning as the liquids can dry out the fibers in the carpet). Therefore, do not treat more difficult stains yourself with chemicals. Treat the stain as quickly as possible - this applies both to treatment at home and by a professional. Simpler stains can be removed yourself. Start from the outside and work your way inwards.
Clean your carpet on both sides with a full nozzle designed for carpets and textiles. Be extra careful with and never vacuum the edge of the carpet. Vacuum and mop the floor under the carpet as well. Rotate or turn your mat for an even wear. Use furniture pads and protection, do not pull on the carpet when there is furniture on it or pull on the furniture when it is on the carpet. It is a good idea to use a carpet underlay to protect both your carpet and your floor.
How to take care of your wool rug
Wool is a durable natural material with a natural flame retardant that, if taken care of correctly, both lasts a long time and is naturally dirt-repellent. Wool is a material that initially sheds a lot. This is because all carpets contain waste material and loose threads left over from production. Vacuum the carpet gently and carefully, and the lint will subside over time.
Things to consider when caring for your wool rug:
- Wool is sensitive to direct sunlight.
- If a simple stain appears on the carpet, dissolve bile soap or dish soap immediately in lukewarm water.
- Do not use chemicals. Work your way from the outside in, then wipe away the stain.
- More difficult stains should be treated by a professional.
How to care for your polyester rug
Polyester is a relatively easy-care material that is less sensitive to moisture and stains. The material is easy to color and therefore has a nice shine and luster, which gives a very soft and luxurious impression.
Things to keep in mind when caring for your polyester rug:
As some polyester rugs sometimes can be perceived as difficult to clean, it is important to turn and shake the carpet when cleaning. A lot of wear and tear can lead to a loss of luster, which is why the polyester mat should be rotated from time to time. Avoid getting greasy stains on the carpet as they can be very difficult to remove.
How to care for your leather rug
Leather is durable and usually only gets more beautiful with age. Since this every piece of leather is unique, there may be some variation in terms of appearance, shade and structure.
Things to consider when caring for your leather rug:
Avoid direct sunlight. Vacuum and shake your carpet regularly. If a stain ends up on the carpet, we recommend professional cleaning.
How to take care of your cotton rug
Cotton itself is a durable material. On the other hand, the material can be perceived as easy to absorb nearby dirt. It is also important to know that there is no natural flame retardant in the cotton fiber. Color and size variations may occur depending on the manufacturing process of the cotton carpet.
Things to consider when caring for your cotton rug:
- Cotton is sensitive to direct sunlight.
- If a simple stain appears on the carpet, dissolve bile soap or dish soap immediately in lukewarm water.
- Do not use chemicals. Work your way from the outside in, then wipe away the stain.
- More difficult stains should be treated by a professional.
- Shake your cotton rug once or twice a year. (don't whip it)
How to care for your jute rug
Jute is a short natural fiber extracted from the corchorus plant, from the stems of the small shrubs. The shrubs originate in India, where Jakobsdal's carpets are also manufactured. The scent of the jute rug comes from the oil used to bind the fibers together when spinning the jute yarn.
Things to consider when caring for your jute rug:
Water should not be used when cleaning the carpet as it dissolves the carpet's fibers. However, a washed out cloth can be used to try to soak up as much as possible of the liquid that has been spilled. When cleaning, the jute rug should be vacuumed. If there is a stain on the carpet, it should be taken care of immediately. For a longer lifespan, the carpet should also be vacuumed frequently on both sides as well as on the floor underneath. Airing it once or twice a year is also recommended.
